Dawn Henckel recently marked her 40th anniversary with Shore United Bank, a member Shore Bancshares community of companies. Ms. Henckel started with Shore United Bank at the Dover Street branch, Easton, MD in April 1977 and currently serves as the Assistant Branch Manager at the St. Michaels, MD location.
Ms. Henckel’s entire professional career has been with the bank. She started as a teller working at the Easton Dover Street branch and spent a year in St. Michaels, during its grand opening in 1986, then moved back to the Dover Street branch, where she worked in multiple positions and was later promoted to her current management position in 1994.
“Dawn is an inspiration to the entire staff and clientele at our branch. The pleasure she takes in her job translates into the perfection of her work,” says Parker Spurry, Branch Manager of Shore United Bank St. Michaels. “We greatly value and celebrate her 40 years of experience, dedication, and professionalism to the company and our community.”
Ms. Henckel says, “Making sure the customers’ best interests are met has made my career at Shore United Bank enjoyable and rewarding. I have gotten to know many young customers who grew up in the community, and in turn, they bring in their children to begin their banking experience with us.”
Ms. Henckel is very active in the community working with the American Cancer Society (ACS) Relay for Life having served as co-chairman, luminaria chairman, and currently serving as a member of the Talbot Bankers Relay For Life team. Dawn was recently honored for her personal volunteerism at the American Cancer Society’s Colors of Cancer Hometown Hero event in Oxford, recognizing those who have made significant contributions in the fight against cancer. Dawn has also worked with the ACS Leadership Council, Junior Achievement, Waterfowl Festival’s Festival of Trees, and Christmas in St. Michaels.
Dawn lives in St. Michaels and has a grown son, Kevin. She enjoys visits to the beach, working in her yard, loves spending time with family, especially her new grandson.
